BAD WEEK FOR:
A town in Paraguay which has been invaded by beetles. Millions of beetles appeared overnight on the streets of Ayolas, forcing the closure of schools and shops. There have also been 16 car crashes as a result of the insect invasion.
A man in Brazil, who has been arrested for stealing two bibles from a priest at knifepoint. The priest had just bought the two bibles, before being apprehended by the 18 year old man with a butter knife. The man made off with the holy books, but was quickly caught by a policeman and arrested.
The infamous Australian cane toad, after a politician in Australia's Northern Territory has urged people to eradicate the spread of the poisonous toad by any means necessary - including killing them with golf clubs and cricket bats.
Albania's most wanted man, who has accidentally killed himself while fishing. Riza Malaj, also known as the Last Cowboy, killed himself while trout fishing with dynamite.
A ram called Rambo, which caused £10,000 of damage by attacking his reflection in the shiny bodywork of a line of new cars. Night after night, Rambo would enter the field where the new cars were being temporarily held to confront who he thought was a rival.
Police in Romania, who arrested a woman after they were told she had stolen a mobile phone from a shopper. However, after searching her, they could not find the stolen mobile. It was not until they rang the phone, that they discovered its secret hiding place, inside her vagina. The owner of the phone has now refused to take it back.
A woman in Hong Ko w, who went to her doctor complaining of nosebleeds. The doctor found that a bloodsucking leech had been living in her nose for the past 4 weeks. It seems that the leech entered the woman’s nose after she swam and washed her face in a stream.
GOOD WEEK FOR:
A cigarette butt, which has been sold for almost US$6,000 at an auction in New Zealand. The butt was the end of a cigarette smoked in the last few seconds before NZ introduced its smoking ban. It was lit at 23:59 on December 9 by the owners of an Auckland bar.
A farmer in India, who has requested in his will that his body be left to wild animals when he dies. The 46-year-old man said he wanted his remains to be eaten by animals in the woods, to show that he has dedicated his life to them.
